Idea for Lincoln

So, Lincoln needs a rwd car. They need something sporty, eye-catching, most defiantly based on the next Mustang, right? Yes they sure do, it needs a fire breathing V8, it needs to be imposing and drive around with the attitude that Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac, and Lexus can go suck a fat one.

I have an idea for their commercial for this imaginary car. Their going to want to chase the young audience, but still have the appeal to the middle aged man.

So here it is: Start off in a dimly lit suburban street, just dark enough that you can barely see the silhouette of the car, hold for a second. Fast cut to see the back of a man's suite jacketed shoulder moving towards the car, you hear his footsteps as he approaches. The car unlocks, its lights come on, the drivers door gently pops open a little bit. The man gets in, but you still don't see his face. He starts up the car and it crackles thunderously to life, with that deep bassy V8 furry.

Commander Cody's "Hot Rod Lincoln" starts blasting from the stereo. The car peels out, in a burn out to do an Aussie proud. Cut to the drivers face, it's Ryan Gosling doing that smirk from Drive . Keep playing the song and the V8 soundtrack as the screen fades to black. Words appear on the screen. The All New Lincoln Mark X coming soon.

End.

But it has to have mega class. Possibly yanking the idea of a "Power Reserve" gauge from Rolls-Royce.

If they wanted, they could even market it with the following slogan:

"The all-new Lincoln V12. Power. Prestige. Panache."

Crossed with a bit of these. (Donato Coco's concept Lotuses Eterne sedan and Elite coupe, that Lotus is no longer going to use... Ford could buy the body designs.)

With a Skyliner-esque folding hardtop coupe.

MKR or Zephyr sedan with MKZ's sliding glass roof.

Mark X Skyliner as the glass-roof folding top coupe.

3.7 TI-VCT direct injected V6 base engine.

3.5 DI-EcoBoost as the up-option engine.

5.8 Liter atmospheric V8 (Boss-302 style heads and specially tuned Intech-II variable length harmonic intake) as the 'hot rod' Lincoln package.

829-speed automatic (or however many dozens of ratios they are putting in slush-boxes now...) for the base.

7-speed PDK-like double-clutch automated gearbox for the EcoBoost, and V8.

Push-button and flappy paddles. NO fake joystick* clogging up the center console, which is the best thing Lincoln has done lately, with the MKZ.

*-it is all electronics anyway, why build a complex physical stick assembly to replicate a physical action that isn't a physical effect? It is not like the gears are being shifted manually, so drop the pretense.

BTW, change the name of the current MKX CUV to something else, preferably a word. Change ALL the Lincolns back to words.

And not Continental, unless it is going to be a full-size rear-driver, with the aforementioned V8... or maybe a 6.2-7 liter block, derived from Raptor's engine.

Not a bad idea, but the easiest route for Lincoln has already been covered and should be done:

Immediate relevance, completely new image, upscale and in vogue.
